Game Review: Kings by Jack Hammer

Kings is similar to chess, a fun, simple, and challenging game invented by JackHammer. A strategy board game played on a checkered game board for 2-4 players. A game where simple challenges turns to excitement. Game mechanics are worker placement, area control and area movement. The board game has 4 colors: red, yellow, green and blue. Consists of cards and several pieces of soldiers and Kings
In a 2 player game, your goal is to reach the enemy’s base located on the King’s tile. Once a piece of yours got placed on the King’s tile the victory is yours. While in a 4 player game, the player’s goal is to conquer the enemy’s factions and control the enemy’s units for your advantage. You’ll win when you are the remaining faction, but once your base have been conquered by your rival then you lose the game.
In the gameplay, you have seven soldiers. The soldier is going to move one step to a tile, but you cannot move backwards. The same goes with the King but the difference is that the King has the power to advance by two steps, and has two lives. You have two options in every turn, one is to advance, second is to use a special card. Now, the special cards. In every player holds 5 special cards that contains 5 unique abilities. The effect can be on the player or on the board.
The game was exciting. I was challenged since I’m new in an area control mechanic game. The game result was satisfying as being one of the players of the Kings. Though I have lost in the game, I’ll guarantee that I’ll win next time when I play the game Kings again. It is something you can play for a very long time. Fun to play with friends, families, and relatives. It is a game that I’d love to recommend to my friends when boredom strikes.
